AI checks every cutting list before it reaches the saw
Errors in production documents were caught at the saw or at assembly, after one person had spent about 150 hours checking lists by hand.
The problem
Every piece of furniture has a cutting list in Excel: part, material, dimensions, edge banding and thickness. Checking was manual, line by line, from January to August 2026.
Data connected
- Cutting lists, the Structure sheet
- Drawing PDFs
- About 1,100 plate materials
- The team's rule package on the company file server
What was built
- Four independent controls: lacquer notes, single or double sided (1PS/2PS), edge band against the drawing, and thickness against the material name
- A plate fit check that accounts for rotation
- Safe fixes applied automatically, everything else flagged per control for a human
Outcome
- Zero false positives on automatic fixes across 28 real before and after pairs
- The team owns the rules. A new standard is a file dropped into a folder, with no developer and no release
Where the pattern repeats. Any business where an expert checks documents against a standard before work starts: bills of materials, drawings, tenders, compliance forms. The client keeps ownership of the rules.
